“Everything is Usable.”

Here is my last Daily Muse column, focused on creativity. For anyone who hasn’t read Twyla Tharp’s The Creative Habit, I highly recommend it. As she says, creativity is drawn from being prepared and being open to new ideas:

“Everything is raw material. Everything is relevant. Everything is usable. Everything feeds into my creativity. But without proper preparation, I cannot see it, retain it, and use it.”

She encourages readers to develop a habitual routine that will keep them going–in dance, writing, art, any kind of work, actually. It’s an amazing look at creative discipline.
