My last Daily Muse column, “What to Read on the Subway,” is all about perfume. I’m crazy about fragrance and have amassed a collection of perfume-themed books and favorite websites. One favorite book of mine that didn’t make its way into the column is Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez’s Perfumes: The Guide, a smart collection of take-no-prisoners reviews. I re-read it all the time, just for laughs. Here’s Sanchez on (the admittedly rich and over-the-top) DiorAddict:

“I liked it very much in Macy’s when I went there drunk one day, and told everyone afterward I had found the perfect bourbon vanilla with orange blossom, as if it had been a life quest. Sadly, the bourbon was all me.”
